My Why

HS Icon 2018

Hello World! I am a lover of all things tech and media. I have created more than 600 TV/Radio commercials and numerous training videos in my career. Some have aired in the World Series and the Super Bowl – so the first question one may ask is:

“Why work in learning and development?”

In April of 1975 the “Year Zero” started in the country of Cambodia. A 9 year old girl was separated from her family, forced to work hard labor, and denied an education. When the day came to flee the concentration camps of the Khmer Rouge she lived many years in refugee camps with hopes she’d come to the land of opportunity one day.

When she came to America at the age of 18 she barely spoke the language but she knew one thing; her children would be educated. Growing up, the mantra of “stay in school and get good grades” had a deeper meaning in our house. Mom had a plan for all of us.

The older I get, the more I realize that education is powerful – it is the gold standard. So often, people think of education inside a classroom. My most recent opportunity has been to work with the Learning Solutions and Development Team at Fifth Third Bank. Learning is a life-long process and I am fortunate to be a part of a company that takes the time to develop its employees. In my previous careers I’ve sold a lot of stuff, but I’m honored to currently invest my time in people.
